I'm finally - FINALLY - going to get this month's comics this weekend (if everything runs smoothly at the good ol' USPS). The anticipation has been killing me, and the thought of receiving a big box full of comics has me feeling like a kid on Christmas. I'll have all of DC's New 52 to read through, and I'll do my best to post some thoughts just as soon as I can.
In the meantime, here's my pull list for this week:
All-Star Western #1
Aquaman #1
The Flash #1
Justice League Dark #1
Superman #1
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #2
Ultimate Comics Ultimates #2

Waiting until the end of the month to get my books has proven quite trying, and I'm quickly becoming impatient. But it'll be nice to get a fat stack of comics in the mail next Saturday. Not that I'll have time to read them, what with searching for jobs for next year and writing a dissertation. Anyway, here's this week's reading list:
Batman #1
Catwoman #1
Daredevil #4
DC Universe Presents #1
Nightwing #1
Supergirl #1
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2
Ultimate Comics Hawkeye #2
Ultimate Comics X-Men #1
Wonder Woman #1
No reviews this week, but I hope to post...

This list is dominated by DC New 52 books, but there are a couple Marvel books in there I'm really excited about, as well as Scott Snyder's Severed.
Batwoman #1
Daredevil #3
Demon Knights #1
Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E #1
Green Lantern #1
Grifter #1
Resurrection Man #1
Severed #2
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1
I've been catching up with the first two issues of Greg Rucka's The Punisher, and I'm really enjoying it. I like to have a more 'real-world' book on my reading list, and Frank Castle occupies the slot perfectly. Rucka and artist Marco Checchetto...

Since I order through previews and am a cheapskate, I get all my comics at the end of the month. However, each week I'll post the comics I've ordered for that particular week. Here's my reading list for this week:
Action Comics #1
Animal Man #1
Batgirl #1
Detective Comics #1
Moon Knight #5
Stormwatch #1
Swamp Thing #1
The Punisher #3
Now, some brief thoughts on Justice League #1 and other stuff I'm reading. Like Noel, I enjoyed JL#1 overall. It definitely felt like the preface to a much larger work, but I'm glad Geoff Johns didn't feel the need to introduce us to each...

I've never been a regular comics reader. Yes, at the urging of one of my students I read Alan Moore's Watchmen and Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man, but I've never really read weekly comics. In 2000, I dabbled with Marvel's launch of the Ultimate universe (specifically Ultimate X-Men) and Kevin Smith's run on Green Arrow. My regular readership fizzled out after about 6 months, mostly because I found the comics industry impenetrable. I was also in college at the time - I guess I still am, but being a graduate student is different - so I didn't have a ton of time to spend on comics. I actually...

I've finally ditched my old sad janky website and created a self-hosted WordPress site. It's got all the bells and whistles of an academic's website: CV, courses, about me, etc. Exciting stuff . I know next to nothing about web design or coding, so this site is still very much a work in progress. I hope to update my blog more regularly with my idle thoughts (as if we don't have enough narcissists floating around the interwebs), but first I have to figure out something to say...
So, if you have a sec, check it out and let me know what you think!

In an effort to make myself appear even more computer-savvy, I've attempted to link my website to twitter. Did it work?
