Read more...Apparently, Midtown Comics was not prepared for the onslaught of the New 52, so I STILL haven't received my order of September comics. Which means that I haven't yet read any of the #1 issues from last month. (Yes, I know, First World problems.) I'm hoping I'll have the books by next week, but who knows. In other comic-related news, I'm really, really looking forward to playing Batman: Arkham City in a couple weeks. Amazon, unlike Midtown Comics, can keep a shipping schedule, so I'll be playing the game on October 18. Heck, who knows? At this rate I'll probably get the game before my September...
Read more...I'm finally - FINALLY - going to get this month's comics this weekend (if everything runs smoothly at the good ol' USPS). The anticipation has been killing me, and the thought of receiving a big box full of comics has me feeling like a kid on Christmas. I'll have all of DC's New 52 to read through, and I'll do my best to post some thoughts just as soon as I can. Yes, at the urging of one of my students I read Alan Moore's Watchmen and Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man, but I've never really read weekly comics. In 2000, I dabbled with Marvel's launch of the Ultimate universe (specifically Ultimate X-Men) and Kevin Smith's run on Green Arrow. My regular readership fizzled out after about 6 months, mostly because I found the comics industry impenetrable.
